Registration

Registration will take place in the foyer of Glasgow Film Theatre from 9:30-10:00 prior to the first presentation at 10:00on Tuesday. You can pick up your pass, plus you will be given drinks tokens for the Drinks Reception and a ticket for Wunder der Schopfung if you registered for one. Coffee and tea will be available on arrival but we encourage you to take your seat promptly.

The registration/information desk will remain open for the duration of the conference so if you arrive on Wednesday, or later on Tuesday, you can still pick up your pass.

This Way Up Pass

Your pass gives you access to all of the sessions at This Way Up. Please be aware that the capacity of GFT 2 is 140 and GFT 3 is 60 so space is limited in those screens and we can’t guarantee entry. If you would like to attend sessions in GFT 2 and GFT 3 we recommend arriving promptly.

Your pass also gives you access to the screening of Wunder der Schopfung with a live music score on Tuesday evening. If you booked a ticket in advance it will be in your welcome pack. If you haven’t booked a ticket but would like one, please inform a member of staff or ask at the GFT box office and show your pass.

Filming

We will be filming particular conference sessions, and more generally around the venues,  during This Way Up. Please inform a member of staff if you’d rather not be filmed.

Food and drink

Lunch will be provided on both days, along with coffee and tea each morning. There will also be finger food available at the Drinks Reception on Tuesday evening. There will be vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options at lunch and vegan options at the Drinks Reception.

Places to eat and drink

There are a number of great drinking and dining options near GFT.

The Saramago Café Bar at CCA is the closest to GFT and is a great spot to catch up on emails and grab a coffee. If it’s breakfast you’re after we can’t recommend Singl-end enough. Gesso and iCafe are also good spots for a pre-session coffee.
Saramago Café Bar at CCA, 350 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3JD
Singl-end 265 Renfrew St, Glasgow G3 6TT
Gesso Coffee Lounge 24 Charing Cross Mansions, Glasgow G3 6UJ City Centre
iCafe 315 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3HW

Dinner
If you’re dining out Ox and Finch is a 20-minute walk away but is excellent. The Wee Curry is very close, very tasty but very wee. The Butterfly and the Pig on Bath Street is a good choice and about 5 minutes walk away – it’s worth going for the unusually written menu alone.
Ox and Finch 920 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G3 7TF
The Wee Curry Shop 7 Buccleuch St, Glasgow G3 6SJ
The Butterfly and the Pig 153 Bath St, Glasgow G2 4SQ

Snacks
If you need a quick snack, a Tesco Metro is around the corner from the GFT on Sauchiehall Street with a Sainsbury’s Local directly opposite it.
Tesco Metro 236 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3HQ
Sainsbury’s Local 219 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3EX

Bars
We’re not wanting for good bars around GFT. Chinaskis is Glasgow’s best kept secret, The Hippo Taproom has an enormous range of craft beers and The Flying Duck is a chilled haunt to reflect on the future of film exhibition. If you find yourself in Nice’N’Sleazy on Tuesday night don’t expect to make it the start of day two.
Chinaskis 239 North St, Glasgow G3 7DL
The Flying Duck 142 Renfield St, Glasgow G2 3AU
The Hippo Taproom 323 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2
